Description
Uniroyal RainSport 3 - the black shark.
The RainSport 3 impresses with top performance in braking and handling, as well as excellent resistance to aquaplaning.
Excellent resistance to aquaplaningExcellent resistance to aquaplaning
Short braking distances on wet roads
High grip when cornering
With its aerodynamically optimised, asymmetrical tread pattern, the tyre offers high resistance to aquaplaning, precise handling on both wet and dry roads, as well as even wear and a comfortable ride. Furthermore, inspiration has been drawn from nature: shark skin is known to significantly reduce the drag experienced by this underwater hunter. In the RainSport 3, a structure modelled on the so-called placoid scales of shark skin has been incorporated into the tyre’s grooves. This ‘Shark Skin Technology’ (SST) reduces aerodynamic drag and accelerates the drainage of water from the tyre’s contact patch.
The RainSport 3 is our latest generation of tyres and features the innovative Shark Skin Technology. Its flow-optimised tread pattern is inspired by the surface of a shark’s skin to minimise water turbulence and facilitate rapid water displacement. Enjoy optimum protection against aquaplaning and top performance on wet roads. The RainSport 3 has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. The jury praised the innovative technology and the unique, transparent performance promise.
The RainSport 3’s special tread pattern increases the contact area on wet roads. This means you can accelerate with confidence and maintain full control at all times, even when cornering. The tyre has been awarded an ‘A’ rating on the European Tyre Label in the wet braking category, offering the highest possible performance in wet and rainy conditions.
The Fast Curve Configuration and flexible shoulder blocks increase the contact patch with the road surface, ensuring improved force transfer to the road. As a result, the RainSport 3 offers high static grip in bends, even with a sporty driving style.
Manufacturer information
EU Tyre Label
The Tyre Labelling Regulation determines the information that must be provided with regard to tyres' fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise. Information is also provided on the product's performance in wintery driving conditions.
Regulation EU 1222/2009, which has been in force since 01/11/2012, has been revised and will be replaced from 1 May 2021 by Regulation EU 2020/740, from which point new standards will apply. The assessment categories for fuel efficiency, wet grip and external noise have been changed and the layout of the EU label has been changed accordingly. The manufacturers' product data sheets, stored in the EU database, can be downloaded via a QR code integrated into the label. It also includes information on snow grip and ice grip for tyres that meet these criteria.
The following tyres are exempt from the regulation:
- Tyres designed to be fitted only to vehicles registered for the first time before 1 October 1990
- Remoulded tyres (until Regulation EU 2020/740 has been widened accordingly)
- Professional off-road tyres
- Racing tyres
- Tyres with additional devices to improve traction, e.g. studded tyres
- Temporary-use spare tyres (T-type tyres)
- Tyres with a speed rating below 80 km/h
- Tyres with a nominal rim diameter of 254 mm or less and 635 mm or more
